For. Every. Body.

Big Queer Yoga is a yoga class open to anyone who identifies as LBGTQ+ and allies.

Through intention and skillful means, we create an inclusive space for people to practice yoga and build community together. We work towards disrupting racist and colonial histories of yoga practice in the West.

Yoga should be accessible to all bodies, a path to greater joy and liberation.

Alexis Koran

Alexis (she/they) is a fat, queer, non-binary yoga teacher. Having fought for space in yoga studios and gyms for two decades, they started Big Queer Yoga in early 2019 with co-founders Tigre Lusardi and Lydia Van Dreel as a weekly space for folks to relax, be in their bodies and cultivate a sense of peace with movement and breath.

Alexis’s teaching centers around the rooted belief that all bodies are inherently welcome to be celebrated and that there is no 'end goal’ in a yoga posture or practice. Instead, what is most exciting about yoga is simply to be a container for breath, sometimes taking yoga shapes.

A student of tarot for more than fifteen years, Alexis uses this tool as a stepping off point in creating deeper, more profound yoga exploration.
